This CD contains two melodies, Raag Bihag and Raag Puria Dhanashri. Raag Bihag is a late evening melody played with a loving mood mixed with thoughtful longing. The first stage is the slow alap, in which Nancy elaborates a free-flowing melody to the gentle strumming of the tanpura lute. The alap flows into the jor, introducing a moderate rhythmic pulse. The tempo is doubled in the jhala section, reaching a rhythmic climax. After this, the cello is joined by the pakhawaj drum in a composition in dhamar tala, a 14-beat rhythmic cycle.

Puria Dhanashri is an evening raga with an introspective mood. The performance begins with a pensive alap, followed by a lively composition in sultal, a 10-beat rhythmic cycle, composed by Ramakant Gundecha. This mp3 sample is taken from the composition section. Here, the pakhawaj plays a variety of composed and improvised rhythms to suit the mood of the cello melodies.
